Antisocial media

THE DISCUSSION

Here’s a funny (and spot-on) commentary from Renny Gleeson about our always-on technologies—and the message we’re sending to the people around us when streaming bits of data take our attention away from here-and-now human contact.

THE DISCUSSION

We didn’t deserve the massive growth we enjoyed during the housing boom—and we’re not as smart as we felt back then.

Conversely, we don’t deserve the severe contraction we’re enduring now—and we’re not as dumb as we feel today.

Adrian Foley describes our present travails as “a time for renewed bravery.” A time when we will discover—through bold experiments we never would have tried during the flush years—the new ideas and approaches that ultimately lead to renewal.

Nobody knows for sure what community development will look like going forward, but now is when we begin to reimagine it.

That’s a very cool thing.
